My mother died just before Christmas 2019 from cancer, which was even more devastating at Christmas. My family and brothers pulled together to get through early January, having to empty and sell the property and arrange a funeral.

Then in March, COVID hit and everything was on hold; my bereavement, family time and helping to go through personal effects which belonged to my parents. During lockdown, I had a long period of time to reflect on my life. Thinking about friends and family who suddenly were not around anymore.

My son came to visit the weekend of Mother's Day and we knew that it was highly likely lockdown would go ahead on the Monday. After long discussions, he decided to stay with us... so 11 weeks later, what a visit!! We made wonderful new memories, exploring the area walking, and it helped the healing of losing a loved one. We lost my mother-in-law and her funeral was understated with very few present. But COVID has brought us together, both families and friends, and we appreciate what we have.
