Moira, Sandra, Hanna
Admin
Employer: LPFT
Base: Holly, Lodge, Skegness
We work as Admin for Skegness CMHT, Older adults and S2C, all sharing one office in Skegness. We have worked throughout the pandemic, dividing our time between working at home and at base. The comraderie between teams has grown and we have all supported each other – cancelling leave, working flexibly etc to ensure no one was in the office on their own. As it was for everyone the changes we had to make and new ways of working were difficult, We developed copying strategies which are peculiar…

Susan S
Medical secretary
Employer: ULHT
Base: Lincoln
I had my now 2 year old boy just before the pandemic started. Taking care of a baby without support from family was a very difficult time but we made it through. I extended my maternity leave and we used our savings to get by becuase I was terrified of coming back to work and passing covid onto my vulnerable partner. Once I came back to work things had eased slightly but the fear stayed. I followed the rules and did everything I could to stay safe and thankfully it worked. We have only…

Ben T
Divisional Information Analyst
Employer: United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust
Base: Lincoln
I started working for the Trust in mid-2020, a few months into the pandemic. Although I wasn't front line, a lot of my work was in supporting front line managers by providing the data and analyses needed for them to make the best decisions in a rapidly changing environment. I also was redeployed for a time to work in the stores after their hardworking team was hit by COVID, delivering supplies (including PPE) to all corners of Lincoln Hospital. And sadly I also went to Lincoln Hospital…

Fiona
Radiographer
Employer: ULHT
Base: Grantham
At the start of the pandemic, the most difficult part was not the constant, exhausting, donning, doffing and cleaning, but being unable to see our loved ones. Splitting families apart for fear of bringing COVID into our homes and passing it on to vulnerable family members. When the site turned ’green/blue’ we were torn. Part of us was grateful that we were not exposed to COVID to the extent of our colleagues in LCH/PBH, but the new way of working meant months of lone working when we were used…

Philomena C
Nurse Specialist
Employer: LPFT
Base: Beaconsfield Resource Centre
I lost my wonderful husband very recently, just when we thought we were nearly through the pandemic untouched. We were already talking about planting a tree in the garden so this will be in memory of him.

Poli F
Senior OT Assistant
Employer: ULHT
Base: Pilgrim Hospital
I have only known working in the NHS through a pandemic and it has been hard. So busy, with insufficient resources or time. And so many of our patients passed away. It has been heartbreaking for all the wonderful caring staff I work with. My own uncle, Brian and his wife Anne passed away from COVID in 2021 and our family has been devastated. A story told throughout the country and across the world. My heart and my love are with everyone who lost someone precious. We really did and do our best…

Sally
Clinical Lead
Employer: LPFT
Base: Discovery House
My memory would be the teamwork of all the teams pulling together and supporting each other and our patients through the lockdowns. Also the acceptance of the lockdowns and restrictions place on our mental health patients and the way they adapted.

Becky L
Staff Nurse
Employer: ULHT
Base: Lincoln
Working on a colorectal and HDU unit, our working lives changed several times throughout the pandemic, initially seeing fewer elective surgeries and therefore supporting wards that were still inundated with patients requiring care. We soon became a ward that nursed COVID patients ourselves and what an eye-opening experience that came to be. It truly was the hardest and most heartbreaking time in my 15-year career. As a team though we pulled through and supported each other to give our patients…

Caroline W
Housekeeper
Employer: United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust
Base: Lincoln County Hospital
I started working at the hospital just before the COVID-19 pandemic arrived. From calm to panic and then everybody working together for a common cause, to get through this and come out of the other side stronger and beating this new enemy! Throughout all of this mayhem, the main thing was we worked together as a team, nobody better than anybody else and everybody doing their best to support patients and their families during this testing time….now after all of this, I think the legacy of the…

Eve L
Staff Nurse
Employer: ULHT
Base: Lincoln
From March 2020 to May 2021, I worked in the Intensive Care Unit, where we cared for many patients who had COVID. It felt like an age, waiting for the patients to become well enough to extubate if they ever did become well enough. I have struggled for the last year with the memories of the patients who couldn't have their families with them in their last few moments. But knowing that I and many of the other nurses were there for the patients we looked after was the most important thing to…

Clare P
Senior Project Manager
Employer: ULHT
Base: Lincoln County Hospital
A very dear friend in his early 50's, Ron, was taken poorly during the first wave of COVID-19. He assumed he had COVID, so did not visit his GP. He became increasing poorly across the weekend and later died of a pulmonary embolism. He is sadly missed and we will plant the tree in a special place in our garden.

Shona
Head of Transformation, SW Locality and Primary Care Commissioning, Ops and Delivery
Employer: Lincolnshire CCG
Base: Bridge House
I was involved with the COVID vaccination programme for 18 months, supporting the recovery from the Pandemic. I saw close up the dedication, commitment and hard work from everyone involved that went into making it a success. I will look on this tree with pride as it will remind me of my role and of the many others I have worked with in the largest and most successful vaccination programme, to date, in NHS history.

Ananta D
Medical Director
Employer: LPFT
Base: Trust HQ
It was a scary, anxious and humbling time to be working in the NHS at the time the pandemic hit. It was the best of humanity at the worst of times - despair and determination, love and loss, exhaustion and emotion... I want to share a poem I wrote in May 2021, when I felt the double whammy of the pandemic taking its toll in the UK and then in India where my parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins and my school and college friends were living. It had been 18 months by then that I had not…

Angela
L&D Funding & Commissioning Lead
Employer: LCHS
Base: Beech House
I have chosen to have a tree planted as part of the NHS Woodland Lincolnshire programme because I think to have them all growing strong together will be a lasting visual in the future of the way the NHS stood proudly and strongly together with everyone helping each other. I really felt for my clinical colleagues as I witnessed the pressures that they were under. I am proud of the L&D Team who adapted and assisted where we could with fast track inductions to get the desperately needed staff in…
